Autism Support for Children & Families
Helping children build confidence, navigate challenges, and thrive as their authentic selves.
Does it feel like the world expects your child to fit a mold that was never designed for them?
You may notice your child becoming overwhelmed by everyday situations that others seem to navigate with ease. Getting out the door for school can feel like an uphill battle; moving from one activity to another may lead to frustration or shutdowns; and unexpected changes to the day's plans can quickly become overwhelming. Certain sounds, textures, or other sensory experiences may trigger intense reactions, while making and maintaining friendships can feel confusing or difficult despite your child's desire to connect.
Perhaps you've spent countless hours researching after your child has gone to bed, attending school meetings, completing evaluations, advocating for accommodations, experimenting with routines, and searching for answers that truly fit your child. You've celebrated the small victories, worried through the difficult days, and continually asked yourself, "How can I best support my child?" Everything you've done has come from a place of love and a desire to help them thrive.
You know your child's strengths. You see their creativity, passion, honesty, and unique perspective, and you want others to see those qualities too. At the same time, you may see the challenges they face when navigating environments that do not always understand or accommodate their needs. Parenting an autistic child often means wearing many hats—advocate, teacher, coach, problem-solver, and safe place—all while navigating uncertainty and doing your very best to help your child thrive.
My goal is to help your family better understand your child's unique strengths and needs while providing practical tools that build confidence, strengthen relationships, and empower your child to thrive as their authentic self. Together, we'll create strategies that support meaningful growth both in therapy and in everyday life.
Building skills while honoring who your child is
One of my goals in therapy is to help your child better understand themselves. Together, we'll explore their emotions, recognize the signals their body gives them, and identify the situations that help them feel calm, safe, and successful. Through age-appropriate activities, visual supports, games, stories, role-playing, mindfulness exercises, and emotional regulation tools, your child will learn to recognize emotions before they become overwhelming and develop healthy ways to respond. As self-awareness grows, so does their ability to communicate their needs, advocate for themselves, and better understand the unique strengths that make them who they are.
As therapy progresses, we'll build the everyday skills that help children thrive beyond the therapy room. Depending on your child's goals, sessions may include practicing conversations through role-play, perspective-taking activities, problem-solving challenges, executive functioning supports, social stories, collaborative games, caregiver coaching, and, when appropriate, animal-assisted interventions with Maru to strengthen body awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation. Every intervention is thoughtfully selected to match your child's developmental needs, interests, and strengths, helping them build confidence, strengthen relationships, and carry these skills into everyday life at home, school, and within their community.
While every session is unique, the goal remains the same: helping your child develop practical skills that create meaningful change long after therapy ends.
